Mandela8 is delighted to announce that our crowdfunder with Spacehive to provide emergency food and hygiene parcels to the most vulnerable and elderly in our local communities has been successful.
We began co-ordination of the project with Granby Toxteth Development Trust to ensure volunteers can deliver parcels to those in desperate need for support during the ongoing pandemic, particularly families and individuals from refugee and migrant communities.
Our partners at Torus Foundation helped get the crowdfunder over the line with a fantastically generous donation in the final week of fundraising.
Chair of Mandela8, Sonia Bassey said “The deliveries themselves will be at no cost to the project as it is a time of need and we want all resources to go into the food and hygiene parcels”
As well as the food and hygiene packs, creative art packs will also be provided to young people in families that are supported.
Mandela8 is also in preliminary discussions about the set up of a ‘Food Pantry’, offering a long-term solution to the most vulnerable in our communities. Watch this space for more information.
